What Is a Bond?
A bond is a legally binding guarantee — not an insurance policy. When you’re bonded, a surety company guarantees to a third party (a client, government agency, or court) that you will fulfill a specific obligation. If you fail to meet that obligation, the surety pays the claim — and you are then responsible for repaying the surety. Bonds protect the people who hire you or depend on you, and they signal to clients and regulators that your business operates with integrity.
